Supporting Brain Cancer Warriors

We sadly lost our Beautiful Daughter Ruby to ATRT Brain cancer in February 2022, we have set up a charity arm of Hounds and Bounds called Bounding for Brains. Ruby loved dogs and all animals and we have set this up in her memory.
We are planning to arrange fun dog events throughout the year and all proceeds will go towards supporting brain tumour research to improve treatment options

Our Story

Our personal tragedy began on New Years Eve 2020, our beautiful daughter Ruby then 19 months was diagnosed with a stage 4 aggressive brain cancer called ATRT, Survival odds were terrible set at just 8% as she was diagnosed under the age of 3. During the following 13 months she endured 4 brain surgeries, 19 rounds of chemotherapy, 1 intense round of high dose chemo treatment with a months stay in an isolation room where her body was stripped of every fast growing cell and 5 rounds of chemo that were injected straight into her brain, she was a true warrior and fought incredibly hard, she lost her ability to walk and most of her speech in August 2021 after her third surgery to remove a tumour that had returned left her very disabled, Ruby never cared as long as she was having fun and laughing that was all she worried about, she was the strongest little girl and we are so proud to have been her parents. She spent most of her life at the dog fields with us, being carted around in the carrier for cleans in her earlier newborn days and when she got older playing with the dogs and running around after them. Sadly she lost her fight on 9th February 2022 after her tumour that she had removed in August grew again and nothing could be done to fight it. In the UK more children and adults under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer, Ruby’s treatment was trial and error and there was not a set treatment plan for ATRT cancer patients after replase, there is also a huge shortage of clinical trials open to ATRT fighters, this is what we want to work to change. We want to give the little warriors options and a better survival chance.
